The app
Sprout stores everything — your child's boards, symbols, profiles, and settings — locally on your device. This data never leaves the device unless you explicitly export a board yourself (for example, to share with a therapist).
We don't collect:
- Any information about your child — name, age, diagnosis, communication patterns
- Usage analytics tied to your child or their communication
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or anything similar
- Location data
When you export a board to share with a therapist or another device, that data goes directly from your device to wherever you send it — it doesn't pass through our servers.
The waitlist
If you signed up for early access on our website, we collected your email address. Here's exactly what we do with it:
- Send you one email when Sprout launches
- Occasionally share meaningful development updates (never more than once a month)
- Remove you immediately if you unsubscribe — no questions asked
We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone. We use it for one purpose: keeping you informed about Sprout. That's it.
The website
Sproutaac.org is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance purposes. We don't use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party tracking on this site.
Children's privacy
Sprout is designed for use by children under the supervision of parents and caregivers. Because the app requires no account and stores no data on our servers, no personal information about children is ever transmitted to us. We comply fully with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
Open source transparency
Sprout is open source. You don't have to take our word for any of this — you can read the code and verify exactly what the app does and doesn't do. Our repository is publicly available on GitHub at github.com/sproutaac.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll notify waitlist subscribers by email and update the date at the top of this page. We won't bury changes in legalese — if something important changes, we'll say so plainly.
